Birmingham singer/songwriter Vijay Kishore will headline the latest No Amps, No Chat, No Charge night that aims to promote local musicians in a relaxed setting to gain them exposure.

With one album behind him and another in the offering, Vijay has been teasing his fans with snippets of his creative process. This will be one of the first performances from him in more than five years following a hiatus.

"I'm really honoured to say that I have booked Vijay Kishore for the next show," said organiser Rob Fellows. "Vijay is a first class performer, bringing favourable comparisons from listeners to everything from the sufi-infused tones of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley or even Nina Simone and PJ Harvey. After gaining rave reviews performing at SXSW, Vijay released his debut LP 13 Rounds.

"It's free entry, a very chilled atmosphere, and is a place where the acts really get the opportunity to perform at their best without having to shout to be heard over a typical pub crowd. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about a pub crowd, but this is event is for the listeners, not the talkers.

"Since we started in 2016 we've had well in excess of 40 acts take the stage, and this season kicked off on January 31 with Telford's Nikki Rous, Esther Turner of Stourbridge and Victoria Major from Rugby.

Supporting Vijay tomorrow are two acts. Former The Ticket Unsigned star Sam Draisey is a Wolverhampton lad with big ambitions.

His music has, in the classic singer/songwriter style, many influences and muses, with particular attention paid to the storytelling qualities and political nature of Frank Turner, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon and Johnny Cash.

And Oli Ng is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter from Crewe, taking influences from Bruce Springsteen, Brian Fallon and Ryan Adams.

No Amps, No Chat, No Charge gets going from 7.30pm.
