Charles Spencer to host book signing in Wolverhampton
Charles Spencer, brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, will be signing copies of his new book on November 5.
The Earl will be meeting visitors to Moseley Old Hall in Fordhouses, Wolverhampton from 10.30am until 11.30am.
To Catch a King is the true story of one of the greatest escapes in British history.
After defeat at the Battle of Worcester the young Charles II fled for his life with a vast price on his head to escape the men who had killed his father, Charles I, and wanted him – and all traces of the monarchy – dead.
Charles II hid in numerous places, including Moseley Old Hall, often evading capture by only moments.
Even while he was at, an unassuming farmhouse, the soldiers came twice; but not only was he not discovered, his supporters finally had time to plan the rest of his escape to France.
The historian and author's book includes includes original research from new sources about the six weeks he spent on the run.
Doors open at 10am. For more information see www.nationaltrust.org.uk/moseley-old-hall
