Liam Payne wows crowds in the US ahead of Birmingham show

Former One Direction star Liam Payne dazzled crowds in New York City as he kicked off a festive event which sees music concerts performed around the US.

The 24-year-old sung at Macy’s Herald Square in the city to kick of Z100’s Jingle Ball. He was joined on stage by dancers as he performed to crowds on Tuesday, who had flocked there for the event.

The Jingle Ball sees a host of star-studded performers sing at concerts around the country. This year there is 12 taking place. Liam, born in Wolverhampton, will be performing at each one except for Boston, and will be joined by artists including former bandmate Niall Horan, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, The Chainsmokers and Camila Cabello.

The line-up for the Jingle Ball was announced during the kick-off event in New York. Liam has previously performed in the Jingle Ball with One Direction, but this will be the first time he has gone solo.

The event will launch in Dallas, Texas, on November 28.

Liam is set to return to the Midlands when he plays Free Radio Live at Birmingham's Genting Arena on November 11.

The star will appear alongside the likes of George Ezra, Jonas Blue, The Vamps, The Script and Demi Lovato.

Liam first rose to fame in 2008 after performing on hit TV show X-Factor.

He began dating signer and former X-Factor judge Cheryl Tweedy (formerly Cole) in 2016 and on March 22 this year, the couple welcomed their first child and son who they called Bear.His group One Direction went on to achieve international success and had five albums debut at number one in the charts.
