Zoo Manager, Matt Lewis, said: “The after hour tours have proved to be very popular, offering visitors the chance to visit the castle without having to pay regular zoo admission.

“We’re already looking at running more tours and talks from April until September next year with new themes and we’ll be releasing the dates in the new year, so keep a look out on our website for more details.”

The tour begins at 6.30pm and lasts approximately two hours and is led by former Castle Keeper, Adrian Durkin.

Tickets cost just £4 per adult and £2 per child (recommended minimum age is eight) and all money raised through the tours go towards funding the ongoing upkeep of the 11th century scheduled ancient monument.
