Sprinkles Gelato at New Square Shopping Centre, West Bromwich, launched the new mouth-watering recipe whipped up by customer Helen Harris.

Helen, from West Bromwich, came up with her tropical inspired ice cream sundae after Sprinkles and New Square asked the public to pitch ideas for a sundae inspired by the shopping centre’s Summer Fun event.

The sundae is a Caribbean inspired combination of coconut ice cream with fresh cream, topped with fresh pineapple.

It’s then finished with a drizzle of caramel sauce and the option of chopped nuts – a tropical taste sensation to evoke sunnier climes.

Helen said: “My favourite cocktail is pina colada. This sundae has all the same taste combinations and is something all my family can enjoy. It's full of summer flavours, it’s refreshing, and reminds me of holidaying in the Caribbean."

The sundae will now become a fixture on the New Square parlour’s menu throughout the summer, so anyone who wants to sample the ultimate summer taste sensation when visiting the centre can enjoy a taste of the tropics for £6.50.

Christina Stone, marketing manager at Sprinkles Gelato, said: “We chose Helen’s sundae because it sounded delicious. Coconut and pineapple are definitely two summer flavours that we couldn’t do without and as we haven’t combined them in a sundae before we thought it would be a great addition to the summer menu available in West Bromwich.”

The centre's summer fun event will run until August 20 and includes a sandy beach for the public to relax on.

But the summer fun is set to continue throughout the summer holidays with New Square’s famous beach, fairground rides, seaside games and free events and activities including face painting on August 12.
