The show will be held at the showground on Weston Road on May 31 and June 1 and is expected to bring in more than 65,000 visitors.

And the number of tickets bought online so far is up 15% compared to this time last year.

Richard Williams, chief executive of the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society, which organises the two day show, said he was very pleased with the reports of sales so far.

“Preparations for this year’s event have been progressing for a long time and the attractions are now all in place for families to come and see, he said.

“We are delighted that people are choosing to buy our discounted advance tickets in a variety of ways and finding our online ticket facility easy to use.

“The show is shaping up to be another bumper year with the usual varied mix of attractions that offers something of interest for everyone.

“Our hope is that when pre sale tickets are combined with numbers of visitors paying to go through the gates on the two days of the show, 2017 could well be a record year."

It is one of the region’s biggest events of the year and has a wide and varied package of entertainment and demonstrations.

Show-goers have the chance to sample local produce and crafts, visit the antiques fair and attend a cookery theatre during the event.

The main ring attractions will include a grand parade of livestock and horses, the Mounted Games Association, the highly impressive Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display Team and a parade of vintage machinery.

There will also be a country pursuits area where visitors can see falconry displays, a ferret roadshow, a sheep show and the Quack Pack Sheepdog and duck display, and Woodfest also proves popular with visitors, a chance to see how the woodland is managed.
