Where to see Christmas lights switch-ons in the Black Country and Staffordshire

The feel-good spirit of Christmas will soon be sweeping the Black Country and Staffordshire as festive lights are switched on.

Sport stars and celebrities will join in with the switching on of the festive lights, marking the arrival of Christmas in cities and towns.

Here is where they are taking place:

Wolverhampton

The lights will be switched on in the city centre on November 23 by Wolves footballers, CBeebies children's character Boj, and Black Country comic Doreen. The event at Queen Square will start at 5pm with the switch-on at 6.30pm.

On November 24, there will be a switch-on event at Wednesfield High Street from 5pm.

The next day on November 25, a switch-on will take place at Church Street, Bilston.

In Upper Green, Tettenhall, there will be one on November 26, starting at 6.30pm.

And in Finchfield Road, Bantock Park, it takes place on November 27 at 6.30pm.

The final one will take place at Northycote Farm, Underhill Lane, on December 3, from 3pm.

Dudley

Wheelchair tennis ace Jordanne Whiley will be turning on the first of the borough's Christmas lights in her home town of Halesowen. The event will take place on November 19 at 5pm.

On December 3, Stourbridge's lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Dudley at the Crown Square from 5pm.

While in Dudley, Britain's Got Talent finalist Connie Talbot will be the special guest to light up the Christmas tree on Stone Street Square, on December 10 at 4.45pm.

Merry Hill shopping centre marked the start of the festive switch-on in the borough on October 28.

Sandwell

X Factor winner Ben Haenow will be switching on West Bromwich's Christmas lights on November 24 in the High Street at 6pm. Also in attendance will be Britain's Got Talent acts Stavros Flatley and Bollywest Fusion.

Stu Arnold from Britain's Got Talent will be providing the entertainment for the Wednesbury lights switch-on in the town centre on November 25 at 6.30pm. He will be joined by Dayton, The Glamaphones and Reed Bass Band.

Cradley Heath will be lit up on November 12, where the switch-on will take place in the High Street, starting at 5pm.

In Friar Park, the Christmas lights will be switched on in Crankhall Lane on November 18 at 4pm.

And in Oldbury, the Christmas lights will be switch on at Civic Square on November 24 at 5pm.

While Bearwood's Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm on the same day.

The Tipton event will take place in Owen Street, on November 25 at 6.30pm.

Blackheath's lights switch-on is on November 26 at 4.30pm, while Langley's switch-on is on the same day at 6pm.

Hill Top will also have its lights flicked on the same day at 5pm.

While at Stone Cross will be lit up on December 1 at 4pm, with Bristnall to be the last location to have the lights switched on at 6pm on December 3.

Wyre Forest

In Kidderminster, on November 12, the lights are being switched on at Kidderminster Town Hall at 5.15pn.

Stourport will switch on its lights on November 25, where a carnival will parade through the streets .

While in Bewdley, a the switch-on will be on November 26 at 5.30pm.

Walsall

Lights will be switched on in the town centre on December 4. A Christmas market will be held between 10am and 4pm, while from midday there will be a host of activities, including a chance to see Santa.

Further events elsewhere in the borough at Aldridge, Brownhills, Bloxwich, Willenhall and Darlaston will also take place with the dates and times set to be confirmed in the coming days.

South Staffordshire

At Wombourne Civic Centre at 6pm on November 25, the switch-on will include school choirs and Santa in his sleigh.

On November 27, attention will turn to Brewood when the lights are switched on at Market Place at 3pm.

The next event will see Huntington begin the Christmas countdown between 6pm and 7.30pm on December 2.

Residents will be spoilt for choice on December 3 with a switch-on at The Parade in Coven at 4.30pm, before an event at The Triangle in Ball Lane, Coven Heath at 6.30pm.

Cannock

Cannock's Christmas lights will be switched on November 18 at 7pm by Amanda Milling MP.

Rugeley will have its lights switch-on take place on November 25 at 5.45pm.

While Hednesford's Christmas tree, in Market Street, will be lit up on December 2 at 5pm.

Stafford

Olympic gold medallist Joe Clarke will be switching on the lights in Stafford on the day he receives the Freedom of the Borough on November 19 at 5pm.

Joe said it would be an 'honour' to accept the Freedom and turn on the Christmas lights in the County Town.

Fireworks will also be taking place and there will be a live music show called the Magic Motown – where classic hits such as the Jackson 5, Supremes and Four Tops will be recreated.
