The popular show saw visitors enjoy an introduction to a slice of local canal history between Malthouse Stables and Coronation Gardens, and Owen Street and Factory Locks, behind Neptune Health Park. As well as admiring narrowboats on show, visitors could also browse stalls and enjoy free entertainment.

Steve Downing, chair of Tipton Community Association, said the weekend event was marvellous.

He explained: "It was a fantastic show – we started this year on the Friday afternoon with a car boot sale and we got a great response.

"Next year will be our tenth year doing this and every year it gets bigger and better. It's really becoming a major event in the boating calender now. I think over the weekend in total we have had nearly 15,000 people come along, which was huge at its peak."

Not only did visitors enjoy an introduction to a slice of Tipton's canal history, but also the town enjoyed some fun in the sun and a bumper trading day.

Visitors also had the chance to park at Dudley Canal Trust and travel into the centre of the show by boat. A bonny baby show and charity dog walk took place and vintage vehicles and birds of prey were also on show at Coronation Gardens.

Mr Downing added: "It was marvellous and we're even planning our dates for next year and a possible road closure of Owen Street."
