A Sandwell councillor has joined the battle against plans to change the name of a West Bromwich primary school.
Controversial plans were announced last month to change the name of Guns Village School following an increase in gun crime in Birmingham and the Black Country.
Councillor Jackie Taylor, of Greets Green and Lyng ward, said she did not understand the 'ludicrous' proposal.
She said: "As soon as I was contacted by one of my constituents about the plans I wrote a letter to the head teacher and the head governor who are yet to reply back to me.
"I can say from a councillor's perspective that I think it is ludicrous that this has been proposed in this day and age.
"Guns Village Primary School has had this name for over one hundred years."
