Earlier this year we challenged youngsters from local primary schools to design ads in an Express & Star competition.

They were asked to come up with original, ground breaking ads for a selected list of advertisers in this 8-page colour supplement.

Children from schools throughout our circulation area, right across Staffordshire and the Black Country, took up the challenge with unrivalled enthusiasm.

Today we unveil their efforts, and we're sure you'll agree that every ad is a real winner.

We were so impressed with the efforts of these children that they will all receive a prize and a certificate.

Each design featured in this supplement earns the relevant school a £50 achievement award.

There's still one very special overall prize to be awarded - and that's where you come in.

The winning school will receive a £500 top prize, and it's your vote that will count.

The closing date for votes is May 13.

The Express & Star would like to thank the many companies across Staffordshire and the Black Country who have sponsored our budding designers and have made this year's competition one of the best we have ever held.

Almost 1,000 children from across our regions put crayon to paper to produce the most creative designs we have ever seen.

From Jaguar Land Rover to Poundland, South Staffs Water to Go Ape, our 30 sponsors were all delighted with the colourful and imaginative ways in which the children saw their businesses and we are sure that some will be taking the children's suggestions for new models and products into their own boardrooms.

We thank all of the children and teachers for their efforts and look forward to welcoming the 30 lucky winners to our awards ceremony in July where their sponsors will get a chance to personally thank them for their hard work and imagination, in the hope that they will consider even more ideas for next year.

If you would like the opportunity for your primary school to take part next year, or perhaps you are a company who needs help with imaginative marketing designs for your business call Joanne Watton on 01902 319671 and she will be delighted to give you details on how to become involved in 'Design an Ad 2018'.
