Movecorp removals firm looking to sponsor after move

Removal and storage services business Movecorp is hoping to sponsor a local sports team or club following its own move into Aldridge.

The six-year-old business completed its relocation from Shenstone, near Lichfield, to its new £900,000 premises in Middlemore Lane West in March.

Managing director James Tennant said that they wanted to get involved with helping a club or team in the Aldridge or wider Walsall area.

"We have not particular favourite sport that we want to support," explained Mr Tennant.

Movecorp has grown from having just one vehicle to a fleet of 24 since it started.

The business achieved a turnover of £5.1 million for its financial year 2012-2013 to the end of March.

Movecorp currently employees more than 70 staff andhas begun a recruitment drive to find up to 20 more during the course of 2013.

There are also plans to invest up to £1m in creating a new warehouse on another site purchased in Westgate, Aldridge, over the next three to four years.

Movecorp is initially looking for office staff, drivers, administration workers and a surveyor.

"We bought the site in August last year and fully moved in March. We were going to operate between Lichfield and Aldridge and then this site came up and the deal was right.

"We have got a site about a quarter of a mile away which we have bought and we are looking at various planning permission for a warehouse.

"When we first started we specialised in just overseas moves, but in the last year we really been busy in local house moving. That has really taken off.

The new headquarters with office and warehouse facilities is on a site covering around an acre.

Mr Tennant said the business have been able to adapt to changes in the market.

"There has been a lot of change over the last few years," he said.

"Three to five years ago we were moving a lot of people with second homes to the likes of Spain and France.

"We have seen a lot of growth in people moving to Australia and New Zealand for the lifestyle changes."

Movecorp is a member of the British Association of Removers, the National Guild of Removers and Storers and the Register of Approved Removers and Storers.
