The finance director at Walsall engineering and foundry firm Chamberlin has been sacked a week after being suspended from work, the company has revealed.

The company has not given its reasons for removing Mark Bache, aged 48, from the job he has held since 2006. He was also company secretary.

In a brief statement, Chamberlin's chief executive Tim Hair said: "The departure of Mark Bache is wholly unrelated to the financial position of the company or because of any financial matters."

It is understood his removal is an internal management matter.

The company revealed last week that Mr Bache had been suspended from work. Following his removal as finance director he left the company immediately.

Chamberlin's board has now started looking for a new group finance director. In the meantime, financial controller Ian Poole, will be responsible for day-to-day financial management.
