Four arrested after police officers mown down in Wolverhampton hit-and-run

Four people have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run which left two West Midlands Police officers injured last weekend.

The officers were hurt after they were called to reports of a burglary at garages in Westacre Crescent in the early hours of Saturday.

As the officers were checking the area at 12.30am, a blue Peugeot 407 estate was driven at them and both officers were hurt.

One of the officers, a woman, suffered serious leg injuries. The other officer, a man, suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

The car was later recovered by police in Windmill Crescent and is undergoing forensic examination.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and wounding and a 44-year-old man and two women, aged 42 and 48, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are all currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Greg Evans from Force CID, said: “ We received several calls from members of the public with information as a direct result of our appeal which led to these arrests.

“Our investigation continues and they’ll all be interviewed in due course. The two officers who were injured are recuperating at home.”
