Despite the shock of Germany's 7-1 thrashing of hosts Brazil, it isn't the first time we've seen a one sided game in World Cup history.

We'll take you through our top five compilation of other World Cup defeats from across the years.

5 - Denmark 6 Uruguay 1 Mexico 1986

The Great Danes were in a group consisted of Scotland, West Germany and Uruguay. However, despite advancing from the group, they were eliminated by Spain, losing 5-1 in the process.

4 - Portugal 7 North Korea 0 South Africa 2010

Portugal waited 28 minutes before unleashing their power on North Korea who had narrowly lost to Brazil. Goes down as one of the biggest World Cup victories.

3 - Spain 1 Netherlands 5 Brazil 2014

Friday June 13th. Unlucky for some. Especially the defending champions Spain. In a repeat of the 2010 final, Spain faced the Dutch looking for a similar victory that saw them crowned World Champions. It started well as Spain took a 1-0 lead. However, Netherlands decided enough was enough and unleashed their skill on Spain to win 5-1.

2 - Germany 8 Saudi Arabia 0 Korea/Japan World Cup 2002

Record goalscorer Miroslav Klose bagged his first World Cup goals in this 8-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia. Quite fitting he breaks the record in similar fashion.

1 - Hungary 10 El Salvador 1 Spain 1982

At least El Salvador scored a consolation goal. Hungary dominated this game, scoring ten goals in what is the biggest World Cup win.
