The Express & Star’s World Cup Lion has been out and about again trying to lift the nation’s sagging spirits ahead of tomorrow’s Slovenia showdown.
The Lion has been visiting various locations across the Black Country along with World Cup presenters Nicky Butler and Brendan McLoughlin, who yesterday gave shoppers in West Bromwich the chance to win £10 if they could answer three World Cup questions correctly.
Andy Homer, 33, from West Bromwich became our second quiz winner when he correctly answered that Fabio Capello was the England manager, Steven Gerrard scored England’s only goal to date at this World Cup and David James was the goalkeeper for Friday’s draw with Algeria.
He said: “That wasn’t bad, was it? I can’t believe it! I’m delighted to have won, now hopefully I’ll be celebrating again on Wednesday!”
England must win their final group game tomorrow (3pm kick-off) to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
