The project aims to open up a network of caves and canals beneath Dudley as a major tourist attraction, revamp the town’s Wren’s Nest Nature Reserve, create a “green corridor” between West Bromwich and Walsall, and breathe new life into Wolverhampton’s canals.
It will battle it out for the cash against three rival bids from around the country live on ITV in December.

Such regeneration programs can only benefit the local economy. THe Black Country can establish itself as a viable tourist destination and the economic multiplyer effect that visitors will generate will double the initial £50 million

I had the same problem as other voters whereby when you got to the security code it said I had failed to recognise it 6 times. Then I tried the Express and Star and could not get on that one either.
Is someone trying to sabotage our votes. I hope not as this scheme would be enjoyed by all generations now and in the future.

I much prefer the other bids who don,t encourage projects to generate traffic

Eden project should fund its own expansion
Walking and cycling well worth 50 million quid NOT
Sherwood forrest a load of old trees Nottingham is one of the worst CIty centres ive had the unpleaseure of visiting
Sadly arent the caverns man made?
the photos will make it look like disneyland and probably just as expensive to visit.
I’m glad I no longer do the lottery if this is what they are wasting their money on.
Why not donate 50 million pounds and build some decent affordable housing for our children who are struggling top get on the housing ladder.

This project is not just about caves, it’s about the BLACK COUNTRY as a whole. It will make our area a better place for our children to grow up in, a place to be proud of, unlike the place that I had to grow up in, during and after the war. It’s in our hands, GIVE A FUTURE TO OUR CHILDREN NOW.
ANON (10) YOU ARE A PLEB!!

Massive caverns, mines and underground canal wharfs and tunnels all dug out by hand and telling the 200 year story of all the graft and sweat that made us the Black Country! And at the same time revealing 400 million years of Earth history and mineral formation showing why this was the place that first became the Workshop of the World. Bloomin’ bostin’!

why support this waste of money people forget that councils are way down the league when it comes to education spend the money on the kids future or better still get new councilers

Grow up Geoff. Where do you think this money would go? You might want to give it to Cornwall or Nottingham but I don’t.
I want this money spent on my kids – and on all the kids in the Black Country that will benefit from safe green space to play in, from wildlife on their doorstep, and from the chance to learn about what their ancestors did to dig out a future from the rock, from the canals they built, and from the graft and sweat that made us the Black Country.
I don’t know where your forefathers came from but those of us who were born and bred here are PROUD of it!

I’m sorry, I’m not voting for it. This bid is not for the black country. This bid is for the councils that have jumped on the bandwagon, for tourism. Lets see a least half the money going to making Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Quarry Bank and Netherton green. Thats the Black Country. Esp in Cradley Heath, there’s a coppice in Forge Lane which is where the 1st forge in the black country was built. That should be preserved as its rumoured the coppice is where the forge was.Stourbridge wasn’t included as it was decided by the committee that it wasn’t in the Black Country but nor are Wolverhampton, Walsall and West Bromwich.

Still trying to vote and it’s rejecting the security code! Is this an attempt to sabotage the Midlands vote?

£50 million and alot more has been wasted in West Bromwich, each time I see that disgraceful empty shell, similar to a distribution wharehouse on the site of the old bus station I feel sick. It is one more in a long line of white elephants that appear around the country. And the useless scum responsible just walk away. Would another £50 miilion be spent more wisely? Remember the Dome.

As a kid I used to play down the caves on the castel grouds and the Wrens nest. We would go down the Severn sisters and come up in the cherry hole. I have actualy done that without a light. I would love to do a tour of the caves before they cave in and the bid for money gets my vote.
nice to see the 50 million quid go to some green lefty group who are living in cloud cuckoo land as to the transport of the future ( walking cycling ETC )
what a complete waste of money We should all boycott the lottery if this is what they spend money on
