Kenny Jackett's side face Cork City at 7.45pm in what is the only friendly during their six-day trip to Ireland.

The likes of Niall Ennis, Connor Ronan and Aaron Hayden are likely to feature in what will be a chance to impress with the Championship season just two weeks and five days away.

Wolves' depleted first team squad - which sees Jackett have just four senior defenders and one senior striker at his disposal - means there could be places up for grabs when the campaign gets underway at Rotherham on August 6.

The ongoing takeover situationmeans no new signings are imminent at Molineux.

But Jackett, who has never been shy to give youth a chance in his three-year Wolves reign, will run the rule over the next generation of academy graduates during the six-day Cork trip in a bid to unearth some gems,

His squad are based at the 5* Fota Island Resort during their Cork visit.

Cork City are also expected to field a weakened side given that they have a Europa League qualifier against Hacken lined up just three days after the friendly on Thursday evening.

Jackett recently pulled no punches in his assessment of where the squad needed improving, admitting they were short on numbers..

Meanwhile the club's ongoing takeover talks continue behind the scenes.

It's believed red tape has held up the finalising of any imminent deal in what have been frustratingly drawn-out negotiations for all concerned.

Reports on Sunday suggested that Robin Li is not the man behind the prospective multi-million pound takeover.

The identity of the mystery buyer has yet to be confirmed by anyone at Molineux - with that situation hugely unlikely to change until any takeover is completely finalised.
