Boss Kenny Jackett was delighted with his young team's attitude as Wolves registered a second-successive pre-season victory.

Goals from Niall Ennis and Bright Enobakhare gave a very young Wolves side a 2-1 victory against Cork City.

The average age of the first-half outfield team was just 19.6 years old.

But there were plenty of promising performances, not least from teenager strikers Ennis and Enobakhare at a time when Jackett has just one senior forward – Joe Mason – available.

"They showed a very good attitude and battled well, showed a lot of heart," he said,

"We played some good football and created some chances.

"It was a mixed side with Conor Coady who I thought played very well, as did Lee Evans.

"Bright Enobakhare got in behind on a number of occasions and scored a good goal, showing some nice touches in and around the box.

"We have to look more of a threat, get more crosses in and score more goals.

"If it's getting two up front that does that then good.

"We want to be more potent in front of goal. We've only got one recognised striker in Joe Mason.

"Niall took his goal very well and had a chance just after that. He does get chances in the box.

"He's just turned 17 so we have to be careful with him, but I've been pleased with his progress."

Coady was captain of the young side and arguably Wolves' standout player in front of a small Cork crowd.

Jackett will hope the youngsters continue to progress, as many of them may be featuring in the Championship in the near future with Wolves' squad so threadbare.

"It was a very young group, they applied themselves very well and the young front two got a good goal each," he added.

"Donovan Wilson came on and physically gave us something as well, which is part of his game and something he has to develop.

"We got what we wanted from the game.

"These guys now have got to be pushing the first team, that's their job.

"We want to develop a winning mentality. Switching from 4-3-3 to 4-2-2 is a big thing for us."

Jackett confirmed that Ennis was withdrawn at half time due to him being eased back into action after a serious injury.

"I also wanted to give Donovan Wilson the chance and have a look at him," Jackett added.

"He's a bit older than the other two boys and a bit stronger."

"We've moved training from Compton to here. We'll keep working towards Port Vale, Northampton and then Swansea City.

"It was another win tonight, which is always nice."

There were more away fans than home at Cork's Turners Cross stadium.

Jackett paid tribute to the travelling hordes.

He said: "They're all around the hotel and the city - there are plenty of Wolves shirts which is great to see.

"Speaking to many people some are coming for a couple of day and some for the week.

"They've followed the team in numbers and encouraged a young group very well tonight, have them a terrific cap off at the end which is great to see."
