Jackett's position is under threat with widespread reports that Julen Lopetegui will be installed as boss as part of a multi-million pound Chinese takeover.

The embattled Wolves head coach insisted he wouldn't consider resigning. But a frustrated Jackett did again warn that everything is on hold at Molineux.

Even a potential move for free agent Nick Powell is out of the question until the ownership situation is resolved.

Of his own future, Jackett told the Express & Star: "I'm not going to resign. It's not something I'm going to do.

"I'm focused on the pre-season. My job is here, working day to day.

"You do think about your own position, of course you do - anybody who said they didn't would be lying. Where it then goes in the future we'll see."

Wolves currently have just one fit senior striker – Joe Mason – available as they head into their pre-season fixtures, owing to Nouha Dicko's injury setback.

With Jackett needing players brought in ahead of a rapidly-approaching Championship season, is the current situation fair on him?

He said: "Good managers have to be good enough to be skilful to adapt to that particular situation. If that possibility comes around then we'll have to see what the situation is.

"We do want this sorted. Everyone's aware the closer we get to the season we do need to be building towards a very competitive Championship.

"They (the board) will be as aware as I am of the need to strengthen the squad.

"It is unbalanced at the moment and the Championship season is coming. There are ongoing (ownership) talks. They're not done yet, but they are ongoing."

As for a move for ex-Manchester United midfielder Powell, who is available on a free transfer, Jackett revealed that was on hold.

It was thought that a deal for Powell, who is also wanted by Hull City and Blackburn Rovers, would be unaffected due to the lower-risk nature of the transfer.

But Jackett said: "There has been interest but I don't think at the moment there's anything necessarily going on, because of the talks on the ownership of the club.

"That's the thing we're waiting on at the moment. He's someone we've considered but in terms of transfers everyone's waiting and we're seeing what happens upstairs.

"He's somebody we've talked about. But right now it's all on hold. It's to do with the direction (of the club), whose choice is that player, it's those type of things."
