Jorge Mendes, whose clients include Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo, is said to be at the centre of talks which would see Julen Lopetegui installed as Wolves boss as part of a takeover of the club.

Fellow agent Carlos Bucero is also thought to be involved in the talks.

Mendes also represents Angel di Maria, David de Gea and James Rodriguez among many more of the world's best-known footballers.

It is believed that negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Spaniard Lopetegui, former boss of Spain Under-21s and Porto, is also said to have turned down a host of jobs in La Liga in order to take charge at Wolves, backed by the riches that will come with the proposed takeover.
