The 25-year-old defender called on fans and players alike to 'enjoy it – and have a good go!'

Batth said the close season has been an important time to recharge the batteries after a disappointing 2015-16 season and shake off any aches and pains ahead of the big kick-off next month.

The Brierley Hill-born club captain said Wolves' pre-season training is designed to put them on the front foot as they go into a new season. He said: "We need to be positive, be aggressive, pull together and make sure we attack the league.

"We have a lot of good young players and some good experienced players who can keep everything together. Let's enjoy it – and have a good go!"

Batth added: "We want to make sure that we are in the best shape possible when we get to Rotherham on the opening day.

"Hopefully the fans have had a good break too and we can all come back with optimism and hopes for the future."

And he stressed he is focused on looking forward. "I am not really looking back too much now to be honest," he said.

"I think everyone always thinks about it maybe for a few days when you are away on holiday but then you move on and start thinking about the next season positively.

"It's not about dragging our feet after last season but starting the new one on the right note."

And he stressed the need for a winning team spirit.

"We saw in the Premier League last season and in the Euros just how massive team spirit can be," he added.
