The fixture list, released this morning, handed Wolves an opening day trip to Rotherham.

It is followed by three straight home games, starting with a League Cup first round tie with Crawley, before league games against Reading and Ipswich.

With both Newcastle and Villa having been relegated from the Premier League last term, the second tier looks tougher than ever but Jackett insists he and his players are up the the challenge.

"With the fixtures now out, we are all looking forward to getting back in for pre-season and getting back to work," he said.

"When you look at the list and see the standard of teams in the Championship, it is a big test for us.

"But it is a challenge we are certainly looking forward to.

"With the cup game, and the possibility of a second one if we get through, there could be seven games in August which will be a busy month.

"Now we know the fixtures we can really step up the planning to make sure we are ready and to make sure we acquit ourselves well.

"In terms of the teams in the division you never know how it will all turn out but we know it will be a good challenge.

"We have a six week pre-season starting next week when almost all of the players will be back and we will then be working towards being ready to go for that busy spell in August."
