The 26-year-old was one of Wolves' key players this season, regularly earning praise from boss Kenny Jackett.

His performances led to him finishing third in the player of the season awards.

But he said of the team's campaign: "It was an average season really. We would have liked to have done better.

"Under the circumstances, with injuries and not being able to sign some of the players we would have liked to, it's probably not been all that bad.

"A comfortable, mid-table finish, nowhere near relegation.

"We still want to do better. Everyone wants to go for those top three spots and hopefully we can do that next season.

"I think we showed good character at times when we lost key players; Nouha Dicko, Jordan Graham, Dave Ewards and the list goes on.

"We showed some good team spirit through some tough patches to make sure that we were never in any danger of going down.

"You look at the teams that get promoted and they've normally got a 90% availability and we've had nowhere near that this season.

"The two previous seasons when we won League One and came close to the Championship play-offs we probably did have that.

"Hopefully getting those players back towards the start of next season will be like a load of new signings."

Henry, in his third season at the club, finished behind Matt Doherty and Jack Price in the fans' player of the season award.

He also finished third in the players' player of the season voting.

Henry said of the recognition: "It was really nice to be nominated. I'm sure at the start of the season every player dreams of winning something like that.

"It was an honour to be one of the three nominated.

"I think I've had an okay season, chipped in with a few goals and assists and managed to keep my shirt for the majority of the year.

"Personally, I feel it's been a good season but I'm always looking to improve and hopefully I can go one further next year.

"I almost got to ten goals this year and it would be nice to achieve that next season."
