Kenny Jackett will take his team to Sixfields Stadium on July 26.

The game completes Wolves' pre-season schedule, with other fixtures coming against Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale, Cork City and Swansea City.

Northampton won the League Two title this season with 99 points.

Chris Wilder led them to promotion but left for Sheffield United earlier this month.

He has been replaced by Port Vale boss Rob Page, who has signed a three-year contract at Sixfields.

Wolves have faced the Cobblers three times in the past five years - all in the League Cup.

In August 2011 Mick McCarthy's team won 4-0 at Sixfields in the first round thanks to goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (2), Nenad Milijas and Sam Vokes.

A year later, under the stewardship of Stale Solbakken they returned there for a second round tie and triumphed 3-1 with Danny Batth, Frank Nouble and Bakary Sako on the scoresheet.

Northampton got their revenge in 2014 when they shocked Kenny Jackett's newly-promoted Championship side with a 3-2 first round victory at Molineux.

Two goals from Lawson D'Ath and another from Ivan Toney put Northampton 3-0 up, with Nouha Dicko and Sam Ricketts strikes not enough to force extra time as Wolves bowed out.
