Wolves bid to avoid Football League record

Wolves will hope to avoid setting an unwanted Football League record when they take on Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

In the history of English football no league team has ever drawn five successive home games 0-0.

Wolves last four matches at Molineux - against Birmingham, Ipswich, Blackburn and Rotherham - have all ended goalless.

And a fifth will be the first such occurrence of five consecutive home 0-0s since the league formed in 1888.

A 0-0 will also set a club record for the most goalless draws in a league campaign.

Wolves have drawn eight games 0-0 in 2015/16 (seven at home and one away, versus Reading) which equals a club record set in 1923/24 and 2007/08.

The last goal seen at Molineux was scored by Matt Doherty when he headed an injury-time winner versus Bristol City on March 8, a game Wolves won 2-1.

Wolves' three other 0-0s this season came against Brighton, Burnley and MK Dons before Christmas.

In other statistical-based news Kenny Jackett's team have a chance of finishing top of the Championship Fair Play league this season.

Ahead of the last round of games they've received just 49 yellow cards and one red (Conor Coady versus Brighton) in their 45 matches.

Burnley top the disciplinary table with 48 yellows and no reds.
