Wolves boss Kenny Jackett felt a lack of experience cost his side victory after another 'frustrating' draw today.

Joe Mason's excellent strike was cancelled out by a Gary Gardner free kick as the spoils were shared with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Jackett took plenty of positives from the game - including the performance of captain Danny Batth - but was disappointed Wolves couldn't hold on to their lead.

He said: "I'm slightly frustrated at another draw. But away from home, with quite a young side, it's not necessarily a bad result.

"There is some frustration though because we've had a lot of draws in this spell.

"I felt Forest were more experienced than us and in certain situations it showed.

"Particularly at the end of the first half when we looked like we couldn't get out down our left hand side, and didn't do well enough defensively and didn't do the basics.

"It was an interesting match at the end. Getting the first goal was key, we were hoping to hang onto that, but it was an excellent free kick that got them the point.

"We weren't short of opportunities. We have to get the right balance in the team and keep working away because there are some good players there, but at times we're inexperienced for the division.

"Sides like Forest have got that experience.

"We look like we're lacking some nous and experience for the division.

"We're certainly lacking in options up front."

After a dull and goalless first half Wolves were far improved after the break, creating several chances and scoring through Mason.

What was Jackett's message at half time?

"I felt we had to up the tempo and get the ball in behind their defenders a bit more," he said.

"At times we were passing back to our goalkeeper too much in the first half, taking too much time in the centre back positions, particularly Dominic Iorfa.

"Wherever we could get a good combination to get down the side and turn their defenders it gave us opportunities.

"We hit the first man too many times from corners. Those small details, in tight games like today, can make the difference.

"It looked like we needed a second and that was proved right."

Jackett made only one substitution, a like-for-like defensive switch as Kortney Hause replaced youngster Sylvain Deslandes at left back.

But he again pointed to lack of experience among his substitutes as the reason for not changing it late on.

"There is a lack of experience on the bench," he added.

"I felt that the players on the pitch were the ones that had the most potential to score.

"The likes of Henry, Edwards, Saville have been the ones getting the goals."

And of the best performers for Wolves, Jackett said: ""I thought Danny Batth was very good, his leadership was excellent.

"I was pleased with Henry today, he showed a very good attitude again.

"Henry and Mason did quite well for us.

"Wallace showed he can create and score goals - I want him to keep building for us, if he can."

Jackett confirmed Sylvain Deslandes wasn't injured when he was withdrawn, with the Wolves boss saying he needed the physical presence of Hause.

Bjorn Sigurdarson missed out with a groin injury, while Kevin McDonald was again fully fit but not selected.
