Strikers at the top of Wolves' wish-list

New strikers are Wolves boss Kenny Jackett's 'No 1' priority this summer as he looks to revamp his goal-shy forward line.

The goal droughts of current front-men Bjorn Sigurdarson, Joe Mason and Cardiff loanee Adam Le Fondre add up to an incredible total of 58 Wolves appearances combined.

Bjorn Sigurdarson hasn't found the net for the club since August 2013, Le Fondre's last goal was at Derby in October and Mason has failed to score since February.

Jackett thinks a lack of goals in the second half of the season have cost Wolves any chance of getting near the play-offs.

He said: "I would put our attacking force as a major priority. The thing we need to improve on is our forward options, I think that's No 1.

"We've been short going forward and we haven't done enough going forward, particularly in the second half of the season, to really mount a challenge. That's been the biggest thing we've needed to improve on.

"After that, at the right time, (we've needed) one or two players with some experience to bring things together, maybe manage a game."

Meanwhile, Jackett insists that only a maximum of three of Wolves' many injuries this season could possibly have been prevented.

His squad have endured horrendous misfortune, suffering three cruciate knee ligament injuries among a host of long-term absences.

Wolves have analysed each injury to conclude if they could have been avoided.

Jackett said: "Kortney Hause's (hamstring) recurrence could have been prevented. That was a mistake, definitely, he did too much too soon.

"We've then looked at the other muscle injuries – Emiliano Martinez had two separate muscle injuries, I don't think we could have done anything about those.

"And James Henry's tendon-hamstring injury. They were the main ones where we looked at ourselves. The other two are perhaps grey areas, in terms of did we push them too hard."
