With just eight games of the Championship season remaining, Wolves sit 12th in the table – 14 points off a play-off place and 11 clear of the relegation zone.

Hundreds of supporters are still deciding whether to renew their season tickets for next year.

Early bird sales have failed to match last year's total, following a campaign that has seen Wolves largely remain in mid-table.

Jackett is confident next season will see a sustained push for the Premier League.

But he also knows his side will have to show some of that form in the remaining eight games if they are to entice supporters back to the Molineux.

He said: "We want to finish our season strongly to give our supporters optimism for the future. We know performances and results will do that.

"Yes, we want to be as strong as we possibly can in the remaining eight games.

"But we want our fans to believe and see that good times are ahead.

"We want to put on good performances and get good results and to breed optimism."

Jackett believes playing in front of a large and passionate home crowd will help Wolves with their aims for next season.

He added: "The fans here can really lift the team. But the crowd, quite rightly, react to what they see on the pitch. That is right, that is the right way round.

"It is our responsibility, it is my responsibility to put the performances on. And if we do we know that the crowd will follow – it's not the other way around.

"What I would say about our fans is that when they do see a positive performance, positive results, quality play, passion and commitment then they latch on to those qualities very quickly.

"They can be a massive plus in terms of us driving forward, improving as a team and getting a winning run going."
