Wolves star Rajiv van La Parra has sparked fury among fans by taking to social media to boast about his wages.

Alongside images of him enjoying himself with friends and a glamorous girlfriend, the Dutchman changed his Instagram biography to read: "One week they love you. Next week they hate you. Both weeks I got paid."

Fans laid into the 24-year-old, labelling the comment as 'ignorant', 'disgusting' and 'brainless', with some calling for his wages to be docked.

Van La Parra has been in and out of the Wolves side this season and was sent to Brighton on loan just before Christmas.

He has featured in Wolves' last eight games. It comes with supporter anger with the club at its highest point for years.

Van La Parra's Instagram biography with the offending comment

Van La Parra joined Wolves in 2014 on a free transfer from Dutch side Heerenveen.

He is not one of Wolves' highest earners but is likely to earn at least £5,000 a week.

Fan Peter Richardson added: "It beggars belief how idiotic these so–called players are. Get rid, we deserve better.

Douglas Hartshorne added: "Disrespectful to the fans who pay those wages."

It's not the first time Wolves players have angered supporters on social media.

Former striker Leigh Griffiths was once told to stay home by the club after tweeting the words '#cantbebothered' on the first day of pre-season training.

And Steven Fletcher once infamously told fans his 'head had gone' with the hashtag '#headsgone' just weeks before leaving the club.

It comes just a week after fellow Villa player and ex-Wolves defender Joleon Lescott tweeted a picture of a £121,000 Mercedes shortly after his team's 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool.

And Albion captain Darren Fletcher said social media could have beeen partly to blame for team mate Chris Brunt having a coin hurled at him after Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Reading.

Wolves declined to comment. The biography has since been deleted.
