The £3million signing from Cardiff City netted just two-and-a-half minutes into his Wolves bow, with one of his first touches in gold and black.

What was an ultimately disappointing night for the team, drawing 2-2 with Bolton, was certainly a successful start for Mason.

And the 23-year-old hopes his sky-high confidence results in a fair few more strikes hitting the back of the net.

He said: "As a striker you want to get that goal as soon as possible and after three minutes, I couldn't really have asked for much better.

"I had a feeling I'd score. I seem to score on most of my debuts and luckily it happened again. To get it so early was really good for me and gave me confidence.

"Bjorn (Sigurdarson) did well to get in and it's just bounced perfectly, I had the simple task. I definitely hope to go on a scoring run.

"Once you get that first one you just want to get more, hopefully I'll get another one at Reading.

"With the goal, now my confidence is sky high, it's exactly the start I wanted moving clubs and I'm really looking forward to playing again on Saturday now."

The point left Wolves nine points from the top six and with a mountain to climb this season.

Mason hopes his partnership with Sigurdarson will flourish and help Wolves climb the table.

He added: "I had two full days training and I enjoyed it, but it'll take time to get to know how we all play together. As a whole, the match could have been better and we should have won.

"When I came here, the manager told me he wants to really kick on this season. This result sets us back a bit, but we've got to go to Reading now and get three points."
