Wolves are keeping tabs on a pair of potential transfer deadline day deals – but are in no rush to complete a shock swoop for Albion defender Sebastien Pocognoli.

If he were to join, the 28-year-old 13-capped Belgian international would become the first player to tread the Black Country divide since South African forward John Paskin did so in 1989.

It is thought Albion are keen to sell Pocognoli today, but may be open to a loan deal, which would be Wolves' preferred option and give them plenty of time to finalise the move with the loan window open for several more weeks.

As defensive reinforcements make their way through the door, Wolves' attack could receive a shake-up as Huddersfield Town reportedly line up a move for Rajiv van La Parra.

The Dutchman – who can play out wide or up front – has played some of the best football of his Wolves career to date in recent weeks since returning from a loan spell at Brighton. And Wolves are still in the hunt for another striker, despite bringing in Joe Mason from Cardiff City last week.

Middlesbrough's Spanish forward Kike – who scored 15 goals in his first season in English football last year – remains on boss Kenny Jackett's radar, but Wolves would need Boro to revive their interest in Blackburn Rovers' Scottish international Jordan Rhodes.

That £9million deal fell through yesterday when the North East club pulled the plug on it.

The defence remains the primary concern though for Jackett's side, who are without a fit and recognised left-back after selling Scott Golbourne to Bristol City last week.

Pocognoli has made just 18 starts in as many months since signing at The Hawthorns, but Jackett got to see the latest of those when he made the short trip to watch Albion's FA Cup fourth-round draw against Peterborough, in which the full-back played the full 90 minutes.

He was spotted by Albion supporters, who took to social media to post pictures of their rivals' manager.
