Striker Mason finalised his move to Molineux yesterday evening, with defender Williamson expected to complete his switch from Newcastle today.

Their arrivals followed a busy few hours for Wolves, who also sold left-back Scott Golbourne to Bristol City for a fee thought to be in the region £300,000.

Golbourne had recently been in talks over a new deal at Molineux, but was given the green light to depart.

Wolves were able to strike a deal with Newcastle for centre-back Williamson, who impressed during a five-game loan spell earlier this season.

The 32-year-old was expected to sign an 18-month Molineux deal, after moving for a fee of around £250,000.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said: "Scott has been a very good player for us and we thank him for his efforts for the club and wish him well for the future.

"We are losing one defender and bringing another one in which balances things out, we are looking forward to Mike being back with us.

"He made an excellent impact while on loan, and brought his considerable experience and leadership to the back four.

"We will be pleased to secure his services and are looking forward to getting him back here and making another positive impact on the team."

Meanwhile, despite capturing Mason on a three-and-a-half-year deal, Jackett has already stressed his desire to add further firepower before Monday's transfer deadline.

Hibernian's Jason Cummings and Crystal Palace's Frazier Campbell are possible targets, while Jackett has also not ruled out bringing in a direct replacement at left-back for Golbourne.
