The Dutchman has been in and out of favour at Molineux this season, nearly leaving on permanent and loan deals before a recent temporary spell at Brighton.

He has still amassed 10 appearances for Kenny Jackett's team, despite the boss signing Nathan Byrne seemingly as a replacement.

Three of those games have come since the end of his loan with the Seagulls – and Van La Parra has impressed in a striker role.

"Yes it's been really hard," Van La Parra admitted of his season thus far. "But I think this kind of thing makes you stronger.

"It's been a new experience for me. I had a feeling I had to prove myself over again.

"That's why I was happy with the Brighton loan so I could get some games there and the gaffer could see me.

"I think he liked what he saw and now I'm here."

The 24-year-old was expected to keep his place in the team for today's trip to QPR.

Despite his recent foray up front Van La Parra still sees himself very much as a winger – but is happy to play anywhere as long as he's in the side.

"The Brighton move has done me good," he added. I've come back and am back in the team because of the game time I had at Brighton.

"It was an important move for me. Now it's about playing football and as many games as I can.

"For me it was just about not playing – that's why I wanted to go on loan. Everything else I am happy here, happy with my team mates, with everyone at the club, I don't have a problem with anyone.

"It was only the game time, I wasn't happy with not playing and now I'm in the team so I'm getting my confidence back on the pitch.

"I'm more of a winger but if the gaffer needs me up front I'll play there, it's not a big deal."
