Wolves six set to return at end of loan spells

Wolves' Compton Park training ground looks set to be a lot busier than usual over the next week.

That's because six players are returning to the club at the end of their loan spells.

Tommy Rowe and Rajiv van La Parra are back from Scunthorpe and Brighton respectively, while the loans of George Saville, Lee Evans and Liam McAlinden at Millwall, Bradford and Shrewsbury are also expiring.

Zeli Ismail's temporary deal with Burton is also up, but the winger has been back with Wolves of late anyway to recuperate from injury.

Rowe, Saville and Evans are all wanted back at their League One loan clubs, but boss Kenny Jackett will take a look at the trio first before decisions are made.

McAlinden may be forced to go elsewhere with his move to Shrewsbury not having worked out, while Ismail hasn't even met returning Burton boss Nigel Clough yet.

Jackett said of the group: "The loan lads have come back, Rowe's back from Scunthorpe, Van La Parra from Brighton, and then Lee Evans and George Saville, their loans are up this week.

"Those four are to be decided, they're Wolves players.

"Zeli will be training with us in the near future and getting back fit.

"Bradford for Lee Evans and Millwall for George Saville are both interested in taking it further, as Scunthorpe are with Tommy Rowe.

"At present it looks like they'll be coming back with us and we'll be looking to see what the next stage is with them.

"There hasn't been anything concrete from Brighton.

"Chris Hughton thanked us for the loan, said he did very well, and that's as far as the conversation's gone."

Ismail's deal with Burton expires next week and Clough suggested that it wouldn't be renewed.

The young winger's contract with Wolves runs out in the summer.

Clough said: "I think Zeli is coming back next week and I don't think he's done quite as much as we'd hoped.

"But he's coming in early next week before his loan's up, so we'll have a chat then.

"We've got a couple of days and a game against Wrexham in the development league, but I don't think he'll be ready for that.

"We'll get an idea from a couple of days of training but the worry is the injuries that he's had."

As for incoming transfers, Jackett said Wolves were no closer to bringing anyone in.

Talks over signing Mike Williamson from Newcastle are ongoing. And Wolves have been linked with several other players, some likely, some less so.

Villa's Gabby Agbonlahor, Everton's Steven Pienaar, Tom Bradshaw of Walsall and Peterborough's Conor Washington have all been linked.

Jackett said: "We're not closer. there isn't anybody imminent or we're close.

"We're making inquiries and our recruitment team, Kevin Thelwell and Jez Moxey are working very hard to try and improve the squad."
