A 'handful of serious potential owners' are in talks over buying Wolves, Jez Moxey has revealed.

In total there have been far more than 10 approaches to buy the club from outgoing owner Steve Morgan, who quit as chairman in September.

Moxey, speaking publicly about the issue for the first time since the press conference confirming Morgan's resignation, said an ideal owner would be 'publicly recognised as having independent wealth'.

And he didn't rule himself out of being involved in a consortium that owned the club.

Moxey, speaking to a meeting of the Wolves Fan's Parliament, said: "We have had a fairly large number of approaches....well into double figures.

"You can whittle that down because of time wasters but there are a handful of serious potential owners. In some cases, we have been pro-active, in some we have been reactive.

"There have been non-disclosure agreements signed and exchange of information.

"I'm spending quite a lot of my time on the subject, taking calls at all times of the day and night. We are active.

"We're not going to say the price is X, Y or Z. The investment the new owner is likely to make into the club is important as well.

"An ideal owner is someone who is publicly recognised as having independent wealth, so he or she passes that immediate yet important test."

Jez Moxey faces the media in October after Morgan's shock departure

Moxey confirmed it would be Morgan who would ultimately make the decision as to who took over and said there was nothing to stipulate that it couldn't be a foreign owner.

He added: "Along with a 100 per cent shareholding, every asset Wolves has is part of the sale…training ground, stadium, freehold property like car parks....everything."

On his future, and possible involvement in a consortium, Moxey said: "I would do anything within reason to secure our future.

"My position is not an impediment to anyone wishing to buy the club.

"If they want to make me redundant, so be it. Likewise, if they said they are wishing me stay on and do X Y or Z.....then yes, absolutely, I will."

And the chief executive ruled out Morgan making a u-turn on his decision to sell.
