Coveted star striker Benik Afobe says he'll cope with any transfer speculation in January – and feels like he's getting even better this season.

Afobe was the subject of feverish transfer activity in the summer with Norwich City bidding three times for his services.

Wolves turned down each one of the unwelcome bids, the third being for £10million.

But with Afobe scoring eight goals already this season he is sure to continue to be in demand, with the Canaries and Newcastle United keeping a close eye on the situation.

"I'll never let anything affect me or my team-mates of the club," Afobe told the Express & Star.

"In the summer it was strange, I've never had it in my career before. You turn on Sky Sports and see your name on breaking news and you've got a game to play the next day, it is difficult when it's the first time.

"But I think I'm going to be more experienced when it comes to January now – it definitely won't affect me. It's a compliment if a team from a higher division is even just inquiring about you.

"There's no suggestion I'll be going anywhere. In football you can never say anything but we've got so many games until January, to be honest I'm not even thinking about next Saturday's game, all I'm thinking about is MK Dons, then when that's over I'll think about the next game. I've always been that way, that's why I never set goal targets for myself in a season, all I think about is scoring in the next game and that's the same for anything."

Afobe has been used in a variety of roles this season.

He feels he has developed his game throughout the campaign – and will continue to do so.

"I feel like I'm developing a lot," he said. "You see an example in Jamie Vardy who is 28 and this is his best season as a centre froward in the hardest division in the world. It shows you're never the finished article, you've always got room to improve."
