Jackett and recruitment boss Kevin Thelwell are drawing up a list of targets.

However the Wolves boss said he still didn't know how much money he'd have to spend.

With owner Steve Morgan looking to sell the club as soon as possible, it is unclear whether he would sanction any big-money moves similar to the one which reignited Wolves' season last January, when Benik Afobe arrived for £2million.

But Jackett said Wolves were set to strengthen as they look to bolster a squad that has won just five league games so far this season.

"When January comes up we need to make the right moves," he said.

"We certainly know where we want to strengthen, we haven't had the discussion in terms of financially where we're going, but we will.

"We're clear on the areas we need to strengthen. It won't necessarily be a high number (of players coming in)."

Wolves have signed eight players already this season.

Jed Wallace, Conor Coady and Nathan Byrne were bought from Portsmouth, Huddersfield Town and Swindon Town respectively.

They have also made five moves in the loan market, bringing in Sheyi Ojo, Adam Le Fondre, Emiliano Martinez, Mike Williamson and Grant Holt.
