A squad short on Championship know-how has struggled for consistency since the season began, with Wolves not having a player aged 30 or over and regularly fielding a young back-line.

But the addition of man-of-the-match Williamson seemed to prove crucial as Wolves reversed a losing run in which they had conceded nine goals to register a handsome 2-0 victory over Blues at St Andrew's.

"Obviously we've added that sprinkling of experience that perhaps we've missed at times this season and I think it paid dividends," the 25-year-old said. "I've had a good chat with Mike and likewise we've trained together a few times.

"When you get a good player in like that it's a natural thing.

"We've stayed tight at the back, we've trusted in our forward lads to produce on the day and they've certainly done that.

"It's a case of the lads in front of us being organised as well. As much as our defending at the back, you don't want it to be last ditch, you want it to be organised and a system where you snuff out attacks without last ditch defending."

Wolves now travel to Bristol City tomorrow night hoping to eradicate the inconsistency that has been a feature of the past three months.

Batth, in words that his manager had echoed, said Wolves wouldn't be shouting from the rooftops about their Blues win.

"We won't be getting ahead of ourselves. It's just one win and we'll be looking to take that into the Bristol City game," he added.
