Wolves' Aaron McCarey cuts short Bury loan

Goalkeeper Aaron McCarey has been added to Wolves' growing injury list and had his loan spell at Bury cut short.

The Irishman joined the Shakers in time to play in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Shrewsbury Town, after a loan at Portsmouth expired just days earlier.

But a groin injury has seen the deal curtailed and McCarey has returned to Wolves.

Bury have already signed a replacement in Stoke youngster Daniel Bachmann, with McCarey now unable to play until his Bury deal expires next month, owing to the terms of the deal.

Fellow goalkeeper Jon Flatt is also on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, leaving Harry Burgoyne as current third choice.

Bury boss David Flitcroft said: "Due to an unfortunate injury that Aaron McCarey picked up on Monday, we have had to move quickly to get another keeper into the club."

Meanwhile, another Wolves loanee Zeli Ismail is also injured.

Ismail, whose spell at League One high-flyers Burton Albion has been heavily hampered by injury problems, made a big impact off the bench in Saturday's 2-0 win over Port Vale.

But the winger suffered a new setback after picking up an ankle injury in a reserve game on Monday.

Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: "He was only going to play 60 minutes but got injured in the 55th minute. He has a bad ankle after a tackle and that is a blow.

"He was doing well and it's a blow for the lad, as he has had some injuries but was really on the right track.

"We had him in that really good spot where he was getting his minutes and making a difference. He was putting in nice crosses and giving us a different edge.

"Now he will have to start from zero again, unfortunately. But that's what it is in football."
