Wolves defender Kortney Hause has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring strain.

The centre-half was stretchered off during Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough and his absence leaves Wolves desperately short at the back

And Kenny Jackett has been dealt a further injury blow with winger Rajiv van La Parra set to be out for between two and three weeks.

The Dutchman picked up a knee injury in the same game. But with a lack of available defenders at the club it is Hause's absence that will hurt Wolves most – and leaves Jackett with a race against time to get a loan defender in before Saturday's short trip to face Birmingham City.

Jackett is also sweating slightly on the fitness of Dominic Iorfa, who has a knee injury, but said the signs were the 20-year-old would be back in training on Thursday and available for the derby clash.

The Wolves boss said 'lots of inquiries' had been made since Saturday and he is hopeful of bringing someone in this week, with Hause out for between four and six weeks.

"We've made lots of enquiries over the weekend and we'll see who we can bring in," Jackett added. "We have different targets and both Jez Moxey and Kevin Thelwell have been working away and will continue to do our best to try to remedy the situation.

"Defensively, we do need options with the injuries that we have.

"We may well have Dominic Iorfa fit again. He was suspended on Saturday anyway but the signs are that by Thursday or Friday he should be training and available as well.

"We have to try to bring players in because the goals against column is too high, we need to address that and we're looking to use the loan market to address that by the weekend.

"It's frustrating for Kortney. We certainly missed him (against Middlesbrough)."

Hause had played every minute of Wolves' league campaign before his injury.

Fellow centre-half Ethan Ebanks-Landell is sidelined with a broken foot and won't return until after the international break next month.

"Hopefully they (Hause, Iorfa and Ebanks-Landell) can come back pretty quickly and help us defensively," Jackett added.
