Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says it is difficult to foresee what impact Steve Morgan's departure will have on the club – and his transfer spending plans.

Morgan's shock decision to step down as chairman and put the club up for sale has rocked those in and around the club.

And Jackett – as chief executive Jez Moxey had echoed – suggested he was in the dark as to whether any plans to spend money in January's transfer window were affected.

"I spoke to him the day he announced it on Monday evening," Jackett said. "He obviously told me his reasons, which he's put out publicly.

"For those decisions how it projects forward is what everybody really wants to know, how does it affect work in the transfer market and future investment? There's only Steve and the board of directors can answer that.

"It's quite difficult to guess or estimate what impact it will have on the club.

"I think Steve will continue to be supportive, he will want the best for the club, I do feel that.

"People's perception of the board's position, people looking into it, it could go this way or that way. It's very difficult for me to speak for Steve Morgan.

"There are, obviously, with him putting the club up for sale, a lot of imponderables, it would be unfair of me not to say that. Exactly where all the answers are, here and now, are certainly impossible to answer." Jackett spoke to his players as a group, and then individually with captain Danny Batth, on Tuesday to outline how he views the situation and what it means for the players.

The Wolves boss said Morgan had been 'very good' to work for. "He's been good to me," Jackett added.

Will Jackett though seek clarification in terms of planning for new players?

"That's just necessarily for myself, that's for Kevin Thelwell and for Jez as well, I'm sure those things will be discussed as we move forward," he said.

"And as ever the other thing to consider is the progress of the team. If players come into the team and do it internally that is always the best thing, and you shouldn't necessarily pass that up.

"Those guys are still doing what they have been, the recruitment team and the youth teams, their directive hasn't changed."

"I don't see the (day-to-day) changing too much. I'm sure he'll be following it and as committed as ever and wanting Wolves to win. The future? There are some imponderables there, but it's very difficult to read."
