The 26-year-old, who signed a new three-year deal at Molineux last week, is uncapped at senior level but was included in Graham Strachan's squad for the game with Germany a year ago.

Scotland are currently fourth in Group D and need to take at least four points from the two games and hope other results go their way in order to qualify for next summer's tournament.

"I was obviously delighted with the call-up," said the midfielder.

"It's a great feeling and I'm buzzing.

"I didn't expect it as I've only just got back into the team.

"But I am over the moon with it.

"It is a great chance to show what I can do and hopefully I can get some game time.

"It would mean everything to get a cap – representing your country is something any player wants to do.

"Hopefully I have now got a chance to do that now.

"I'll join up the squad after the Huddersfield game and will give it my all to try and get on that pitch and get my first cap which would be such an honour."
