Speaking after Wolves' brilliant 3-0 victory over 10-man Fulham at Craven Cottage, the Wolves boss had no prior inclination Morgan was planning to sell up.

And the head coach maintains he had enjoyed an 'excellent personal working relationship' with the departing chairman.

Jackett said: "I was surprised, I didn't know it was coming. Obviously, we fully respect Steve Morgan's decision.

"I'm not going to speak for him, and he has his own reasons, we understand that.

"But from my point of view I've had an excellent personal working relationship with him and I'm sure that'll continue. I respect Steve Morgan, the board of directors and whatever decisions they make."

Goals from Adam Le Fondre, Sheyi Ojo and James Henry saw Wolves leap to 10th in the Championship table, just three points off the play-offs.

Wolves dominated against a team who had thrashed Queens Park Rangers 4-0 four days earlier.

Jackett said of the long-awaited win: "It was a very good performance, encouraged by the spell was it was 11 versus 11.

"I thought we played very well in that period and moved the ball well. It's a new side to a degree, with new leaders, and there are signs of good performances coming through.

"We made the man advantage tell, particularly in the second period. In the first we were too narrow, in the second we adjusted slightly and did better.

"If we can go into the international break, with another positive performance, it'll show signs of recovery after an indifferent start to the season and also, hopefully, give my players some confidence."

A tactical masterstoke from Jackett saw him send on Ojo at half time. Within 14 minutes Ojo had scored one and saw Le Fondre deflect his shot into the corner for the other.

Jackett said: "Sheyi can get right out on that touchline, he's an old fashioned winger, and he can really give you a lot if you're strong enough to give him the ball consistently.

"There was some anxiety when Fulham went straight down to 10 men. We needed more to stretch them.

"Saturday will be a hard game, Huddersfield are on a good run, we have to be positive and show them all of the respect they deserve and try to go into the international break with a positive result."
