Wolves will see James Henry's peak years, boss Kenny Jackett believes, after the 26-year-old signed a new two-year contract.

Henry's existing deal was due to expire next summer but he is now contracted to Wolves until 2017, with the club having the option of an extra year.

The talks were revealed in last week's Express & Star, and Henry becomes the latest to be tied to a new deal after Matt Doherty, Jack Price, David Edwards and Nouha Dicko were handed contracts earlier this summer.

Jackett said of Henry: "I'm pleased he's committed his future to the club and I do feel at 26 he has his best years to come now

"He has a good amount of games under his belt, a lot of Championship games, and is experienced at this level.

"And I do feel now he can keep pushing on, he's made a really bright start to the season and been creative for us, he has to continue that upward curve in his career as he, I feel, goes into his peak years.

"With the start he's made, and has battled well for the team, we felt now was the right time rather than leave him going right to the end of his contract. "James was very keen as well, when we approached him, to settle his future down and commit to the club which is always a good sign."

Henry has arguably been Wolves' standout performer so far this season.

"I can see what the gaffer is trying to do here and he has told me I am a big part of his plans," he said.

"Hopefully I can reward him and the club for giving me this new deal.

"It is a massive club here and it has been great for me. It would be great to be a Premier League player.

"That has always been my ambition and is one I am yet to fulfil.

"Fingers crossed, over the next two or three years we can hopefully do it."
