Boss Kenny Jackett today dismissed suggestions Wolves have imposed a £2million cap on transfer fees.

Some sections of the Molineux faithful had feared the head coach was under strict guidelines not to spend more than £2million on any one signing.

But the head coach has insisted that is not the case and revealed higher bids have been lodged.

He said: "Talk of a £2million transfer cap is not right. In my time, here we have bid more than that for players. We haven't been successful with those bids but we have bid more than that.

"There is no written rule. We want players that are young, hungry and have quality. But there is no specific limit on a particular transfer fee for one player.

"We very much take it player by player."

Jackett is known to be on the lookout for a new striker following confirmation Nouha Dicko will be out for nine months with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

One of the players rumoured to be interesting the boss is Manchester United's James Wilson.

And, while he admits he is a fan, Jackett would be surprised if United chief Louis van Gaal let him out on loan.

He said: "James scored for England under-21s the other day and I would be very surprised if Manchester United let him out.

"I'd say the whole of the Championship and half a dozen Premier League clubs would enquire about him if he does become available.

"He's somebody we've considered, but he'll be much sought after and I can't see United letting him go."

One player who remains at the club is Rajiv van La Parra, who saw a move to Championship rivals Leeds United break down.

And Jackett has told the winger has to now focus on winning a place back in the Wolves side.

He added: "Rajiv has now got a chance to stake his claim. His attitude has been very good in training. Now he has to battle away and try to regain that first-team place."
