The Mali international tore his anterior cruciate ligament during last weekend's 2-1 win over Charlton and is expected to be sidelined for nine months.

While that makes a return this season unlikely Dicko, who will undergo surgery this week, is in determined mood.

"I refuse to admit my season is over and refuse to be defeated by the injury," he said.

"I'm not going to rush anything and we will see but I will do my best to recover as best as possible and if I could make it back before the end of the season that would be fantastic.

"I am trying to stay positive and I know with the medical staff here I will get well looked after."

He went on: "I have read different things about how my injury goes.

"I will try and recover the best I can and if I can be here before the end of the season then great. If we can make it to the play-offs then I might be there."

Dicko, along with Benik Afobe and Bakary Sako, was key to Wolves' attack last term and finished the campaign with 15 goals.

The popular 23-year-old thanked supporters for their messages of support after the seriousness of his injury was revealed in midweek.

"I would really like to thank them for that," he said."I want to make a good recovery and that support all the way through the process will make a real difference.

"I don't doubt it will happen because Wolves fans are always there for the club and the players.

"I came to Wolves in tough moments and things have gone really well but now I am in a tough moment to know the fans are there is a good feeling."
