Emiliano Martinez has been backed to overcome his QPR blunders and become a 'very good goalkeeper' for Wolves.

The 22-year-old Argentine made a couple of high-profile gaffes in the 3-2 defeat, particularly for Matt Phillips' winning goal for which Martinez seemed to be wrong-footed.

There were also question marks for the London club's second goal, which saw Phillips' shot trickle into the net.

But Wolves boss Kenny Jackett hinted he will keep faith in the on-loan Arsenal man when he takes his team to Cardiff City tomorrow.

"He'll be disappointed," Jackett said. "For him he's just got to settle down, keep going, get (used to) the pace – it's a high pace and there is lots coming at you.

"It'll be nice for us to maybe not need our keeper as much as we have so far as well.

"He's just got to come through this and settle down.

"I think he's okay. I think it's been hectic for him and games are coming up thick and fast, but he'll come through that and be a very good goalkeeper for us."

Jackett said his players had reacted well to the defeat and declared themselves ready to go again on Saturday.

He called for them to improve defensively, but said he was pleased with his players embracing their new-look system, through which they played some scintillating football on Wednesday night.

"We'll be looking to bounce back against a very good Cardiff side," he added. "I'm pleased we have a game after just a few days

"Defensively we're looking to be more solid - there have been too many shots on our goal for my liking.

"We haven't got a clean sheet yet and certainly against QPR conceding three goals doesn't give you much chance of earning points. But our passing and movement for half an

hour against QPR was excellent."

Meanwhile, midfielder Lee Evans has joined League One side Bradford City until January 9.
