'Sir Jack would be truly honoured': Jonathan Hayward thanks Wolves fans as he opens stand in father's name

The son of legendary Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward declared his father's stand open today, as he thanked fans who had honoured his memory.more

Jonathan Hayward joined current owner Steve Morgan and addressed Wolves fans before today's opening home league fixture against Hull City, which finished 1-1.

The Jack Harris stand has been renamed in honour of Sir Jack.

Jonathan Hayward was handed a book of condolences signed by legions of supporters after Sir Jack's death in January at the age of 91.

After receiving the book, he told fans: "Thank you to everyone who contributed to the condolence book, I will treasure it for the rest of my life.

"Its a great honour to be here today and I know my father, dad, Sir Jack, would be truly honoured to have the stand in his name."

Plans are also afoot for a statue of Sir Jack that will stand in Wolverhampton city centre.
