Wolves boss Kenny Jackett feels there is more to come from his side after their opening-day victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Jackett's team produced a gritty performance to take all three points at Ewood Park, although Wolves were far from their best at times.

And the head coach said there were areas of improvement to be made in the coming weeks.

Wolves face a tough schedule with up to six more games in August alone, should they make it through to the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Jackett said: "To come away to Blackburn and get three points is great but we also feel there is more to come. We had some very good spells of possession and a threat up front.

"But there were other times when balls into their front man we didn't follow in and they were turning and shooting too easily with the shooting power they have got.

Dave Edwards of Wolverhampton Wanderers celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 1-2.

"We were disappointed with that and could have done better with those situations defensively.

"We could have done more with possession at times and so we made it hard for ourselves, but that is under-selling Blackburn who are a good side with some very good players."

One statistic doing the rounds on Twitter after the game was that Wolves played more passes against Blackburn than any other Championship team on the opening weekend.

And Jackett reckons that's the way forward for his team, saying: "We want to base our game on the good spells of possession we had and try and take that forward.

"There were a number of players with cramp in that second-half. That shows that you can have six or seven weeks of pre-season.

"When you get back to playing at your level, emotionally it's the first day of the season, it can still be difficult.

"We need to get into a rhythm as a team and there is a lot there to build in and getting our team playing settled down and playing regularly now is something we need to do.

"There is a determination in every single person to be better than where they were last year."
