Hotshot striker Bright Enobakhare is set to be given a chance to prove himself at Wolves instead of going out on loan.

The teenager impressed during Wolves' pre-season campaign and scored a solo wonder goal in the 4-3 win at Doncaster on Saturday.

Jackett enthused about the 17-year-old after the game, insisting Enobakhare was ready for senior football.

And the head coach has confirmed it will be with Wolves that the Nigerian-born youngster will most likely be given his first taste of senior action.

He said: "He's had a good pre-season and he's ready for senior football, despite being aged under 18. How much, how often and whether it's here or out on loan we'll see.

"But initially, looking at our numbers, it'll be here. I don't think I'm blessed with a high amount of forwards and I think his best position is playing just off the striker.

"He has an eye for goal, his finishing is good and, if gets the right partner, I think he could do something for us now."

The arrival of Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre on loan has pushed Enobakhare down the pecking order at Molineux.

But, after making his mark in recent weeks, the teenager may have done enough to earn a spot on the bench when Wolves kick off their season at Blackburn on Saturday.

Enobakhare arrived in England from Nigeria two years ago and Jackett told of how Wolves had done everything they could to ensure he is settled in the country.

And he added it's important the club gave youngsters like Enobakhare the opportunity to prove themselves.

He said: "He's a quiet lad, the club have gone out of their way to help him and settle him down.

"He seems to have struck up a good friendship with Sylvain Deslandes and a few of the other boys around his age, which is good.

"Gareth Prosser (academy boss) and Kevin Thelwell (recruitment chief) behind the scenes have worked very hard to make sure he's settled.

"He's been an interesting player for us in pre-season. If we're going through two players per position in the first-team squad, there'll be a number of younger players in that – but there has to be.

"We're a Category One academy and we want to produce young players. It's not young players that are good enough in three years – it's young players that are good enough now.

"They need to have those chances and opportunities but also when the games come, and they'll be coming thick and fast now, the squad has to be ready to combat what is a very physical Championship."
